FSU vs. Miami One of the Most Anticipated Rivalry Games of the Year
emily October 5th, 2017
The annual rivalry between the Florida State Seminoles and Miami Hurricanes has brought fans some of the most memorable moments in college football history. It’s bound to be a wild weekend any time these two teams meet. It’s a battle for Sunshine State supremacy.
For the first time since 1983 Miami will be the only ranked team on the field when it plays its biggest rival, Florida State. Miami moved up one spot to No. 13 in the Associated Press top 25 when UM beat then-undefeated Duke 31-6 on Friday.
Florida State is unranked for the second week in a row. FSU beat the unbeaten Wake Forest 26-19 on Saturday, but dropped out after losing 27-21 at home to North Carolina State the week prior.
Both teams, UM and FSU, have been ranked in three of the last 10 meetings, and FSU has been ranked in seven of the last 10, including the last five. UM has lost against the Seminoles since 2009.
Three Seminoles – Charlie Ward, Chris Weinke and Jameis Winston – have brought the Heisman back to Tallahassee. Two Hurricanes have won the prize, but not since Gino Torretta in 1992.
Let’s cheer on the Noles and hope they can continue their unbeaten streak for the 8th straight year against the Miami hurricanes.
The Seminoles host the Hurricanes at 3:30 p.m. ET Saturday (ESPN)
